ABOUT THE ARTIST

Emily Matute is an Ecuadorian artist based in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from New York University with a BS in Media, Culture, and Communication and a minor in Politics along with University Honors and an Honors Thesis. Emily holds an immense love for her hometown Sucúa where she first fell in love with her camera and jewelry beads as a child. Today, Emily specializes in design, photography, and marketing. As someone passionate about human expression and genuine connections, she is dedicated to bringing unique visions into realities and in sharing authentic narratives of people and their work.

Emily’s creative works are vivid, experimental, and intentional. As much as she values creativity and freedom, she equally values planning and meeting goals. Whether it is a jewelry design, a photoshoot, or a brand campaign, Emily seeks to remain authentic to the artist (herself or others) and committed to the objective (personal or business). She enjoys bringing to life raw feelings, experiences, and concepts into visual mediums. Her creative style is organic, lively, and aims to showcase beauty in new ways of seeing.

Art exists in everything around me and this is the force that drives my work and projects.

As the co-founder of Fuego Eterno, she has the pleasure to implement her specialities in her everyday experience with running a jewelry business. As a daughter, growing up within an immigrant family who began their own small business, she has learned the importance of risk-taking, innovation, and growth. She now works as creative and marketing director for her family’s small businesses along with other local businesses. As an artist, she finds inspiration in the everyday beauty around her, the people in her life, her country and culture, and her life experiences.

If you look close enough, there is a meaning in every piece of her work meant to be understood by those who can see. If you look close enough, there is beauty in all things around you.
